AMA Pro Flat Track: Sacramento Mile Round 5 Wrap Up From Circle Bell Motorsports, Cycle News & Next Moto Champion

Round 5 of the 2013 AMA Pro Flat Track presented by J&P Cycles Grand National Championship at the Sacramento Mile on July 27 was a rousing success by anyone's standards, with a full house on-hand to pack the grandstands and a live viewing audience able to watch from home thanks to all of the efforts of those involved.

With Bryan Smith again taking the win for his third-in-a-row on the #42 Crosley Radio/Howerton Motorsports Kawasaki, the battle for the top rung on the ladder in mile racing picked up where it left off at the end of the 2012 season, even with the addition of the minimum weight to all of the Twins Series machines and the extra millimeter in restrictor given back to the Harley-Davidson XR750 competitors.

With his win at Sacramento, Flyin' Bryan not only took his second straight win at Sacto for his Howerton Kawasaki team, after winning the 2011 event while riding his Moroney's Fasthog.com XR, but took his fourth overall win at the facility after winning back in the 2003 season.

In the shot above from round 13 of the 2012 AMA Pro Flat Track Grand National Championship season, riders get ready to head out for the first practice session of the day at the Springfield Mile II on September 16.

(L-R)  Brad Baker on the #12 Dodge Brothers Racing XR750, Sammy Halbert on his #7 South East H-D/Kings Kustoms XR, Bryan Smith on the #42 Crosley Radio/Howerton Motorsports Kawi, Henry Wiles on the #17 Lloyd Brothers Motorsports/Ramspur Winery Ducati, Jared Mees on the #9 Rogers Racing/Blue Springs H-D XR, Jake Johnson on the #1 Zanotti Racing/Schaeffer's H-D XR, and Kenny Coolbeth, Jr. on the #2 Screamin' Eagle/Harley-Davidson Motor Company factory XR750 all get ready to test the track after what was a two-week delay in getting what is usually the annual Labor Day weekend race-athon in the bag.

Helping to wrap-up this last weekend's events at the Cal Expo Fairgrounds, Cory Texter, writing for Next Moto Champion.com, put together this great overview of the day's activities at Sacramento.

And Dave Hoenig covered the event for Cycle News and put in this race report from the left coast.

And again a big thanks to Circle Bell Motorsports and the Bob Bellino-led group of folks for not only putting on a great show at the Sacramento Mile, but to AMA Pro Flat Track and Will Fulford from The Fast and Dirty.com for bringing us what was excellent live streaming coverage of the races last Saturday night.  For a first-time effort, you should be applauded and take a bow for the wonderful coverage that you were able to bring us fans who weren't able to make the trek west.  You can view the 25-lap Grand National main as it went down here to see some of the best racers on the planet racing in The Rolling Thunder Show in another super event.

And finally, the Circle Bell Motorsports group have provided us with a nice wrap-up from last Saturday night's races, which you can check out below.

The series heads to the Castle Rock TT this coming Saturday, August 3 for round 6 of the 2013 AMA Pro Flat Track presented by J&P Cycles Grand National Championship season.
